Ian and Heather Flinn
After having lost a garden previously due to water restrictions, Ian and Heather Flinn say they were only interested in buying into new estates that could offer recycled water to help keep their garden green.
“We moved here in November and started the garden in January so we are very pleased to see the recycled water on – so we can keep our garden looking good.
“Having the recycled water just makes life so much easier – we no longer have to carry out the bath water to water the garden, and I truly think it will put the value of the property up, plus the whole estate will benefit from unrestricted irrigation,” Ian said.
“The place will be so much more liveable than the others over time – it is just so much more pleasant to live in a green place where the plants and trees look healthy. There’s nothing worse than when you see dead trees around.”
Heather agreed adding concern for the environment and drought caused by lack of trees that can aid in the precipitation process.
“With more trees we can help generate more rain, it’s a fact. So if you don’t plant trees or the trees die without water, the long term effect is worrying,” she said.
“We were certain we wanted to live in an estate that had recycled water – we lost a beautiful garden once because we couldn’t keep enough water up to it... after that I said never again.
“The grass will stay lovely and green and, even though I wouldn’t say we are fanatical gardeners, we do like to keep a nice garden,” Heather said.
Ian said the purple colour coding of the taps and fittings for the recycled water was a great idea – and would ensure there could be no confusion about which outlet offered mains or recycled water.
“It’s very bright and easy to identify so we won’t have any trouble with it.”
He said the fact Marriott Waters also offered a wetland environment further encouraged their final decision to buy into the community.
“We love the wetlands and plans for lots of walking tracks – it just makes for a really nice place to live.”
