Wetlands
Water is one of the primary sources of life and in current times of drought, we are now more conscious than ever of the central role it plays in our daily lives and the importance of nurturing and sustaining its value.
Spanning 17 hectares the Marriott Waters wetlands has been designed not only as an attractive component of this unique residential community but more importantly as an imperative environmental feature.
Demonstrating water sensitive urban design principles that work to protect our precious waterways and bay, the Marriott Waters wetlands act as a natural cleansing process, ensuring the estate’s stormwater runoff it rid of toxic pollutants and impurities before it leaves the estate boundary and flows into nearby Western Port Bay.
Seven hectares of the ecologically designed wetland precinct will be open water which will aerate and distil street water while extensive planting of aquatic wetland plants purify runoff treating it to its best practice before flowing off the estate.
Centrally positioned within the project, the linear waterways are made up by an integrated system of wetlands, ponds, rocks and parklands. Strategically designed to encourage the return of wildlife in the area, these water bodies will create the ideal surrounds for fish, birdlife and native flora to habitat in the precinct and with a network of boardwalks, it will also become a tranquil location to walk, run and play.
